Rambling Observations of the
2006 NCS Reuben Award Weekend

May 26 - 30, 2006

Hanging with Bill Janocha at the Cocktail Party on Friday night. We're both far too cool to wear ties.

Bill Janocha, Don Wimmer and Charles Filius doing their best
to obliterate the Chicago skyline from view. It was at this
moment that Don realized I was reaching for his wallet.
Seconds later I realized it wasn't his wallet that I was grabbing.

Don Wimmer ("Rose Is Rose") in a very reflective moment. "Should I talk with Charles and Kelley or just jump off this ledge and splatter all over the pavement several stories below?"
What to do...what to do...

Jumping it is! Don is such a decisive fellow!
Because when push comes to shove
he knows we would if he didn't...

Caught in the act! Drawing on the all too familiar yellow fedora of the immortal Dick Tracy. Chester Gould's classic comic strip turns 70  this year. This is part of a project called HATS OFF by The Chester Gould / Dick Tracy Museum located in Woodstock, Illinois. Or at least that is what I was told. For all I know I could be vandalizing someone's hat and now be a fugitive. I don't want to be on the run... I'm too lazy.

Planning the future domination of the world by all cartoonists with Max Evry, son of cartoonist Ron Evry (who took this photo). Ron knows better than to have his picture taken with me. He's seen what I've done to Kelley over the years...
